With the fall comes Thanksgiving, a favorite holiday in our home. It’s a moment each year in the calendar where we seem to be able to pause, to acknowledge the good around us and to be challenged to think of how we can be a blessing to those we love. Perhaps even more impactful, is taking the time to recognize how good things still happen all the time. As many know, we are intentional about thanksgiving. Call it a stress coping mechanism, a practice for our mental health or whatever you want – but it is something we have implemented daily in our home and in our office.
This year, we find ourselves even more desperate to acknowledge the good, the happy and the peaceful in our lives. We talk often of how blessed we are to serve those we do, for the community around us, for the place we live and the friends and family we have. Yes, there are disappointments and difficult moments that also remind us that better times are yet to come but we choose to focus on what we can. There have been a few captions this fall that have caught my attention, had me reflect and even challenged me to make the most of what I’ve got. I hope they will encourage you as well and may you and yours be safe, feel loved and supported and may this Thanksgiving hold more meaning than those before.
“Our capacity to love is never ending.”
“Do not let what you cannot do interfere with what you can do.”
“So when all that’s left of me is love, give me away.”
